How Waves Are Generated in the Ocean

How Paradise Cups Are Made: Step-by-Step Process

The lush, tropical island of Maui, known for its crystal-clear water and curling waves, is surrounded by the breathtaking turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean. Drawing inspiration from this natural beauty is Ryan Staub, the owner and artist of Maui’s local glassblowing studio and sculpture gallery, Moana Glass.

Ryan works in his studio on Maui, where he and his team of trained glassblowers create stunning sculptures inspired by the spirit of aloha. Each piece is crafted in their local studio, reflecting the island’s beauty and culture.

Through a detailed multi-step process, Ryan beautifully recreates Maui’s breaking waves in glass. These unique pieces are designed to last a lifetime and travel with you wherever you go.

“My waves are inspired by the waves that I see here on Maui,” says Staub, owner of Moana Glass. “Since we work with the material at temperatures between 1000 and 2000 degrees, the glass becomes liquid while we’re working with it. This allows us to move and shape it in ways that capture the natural flow of water.”
